February is a great month to visit Cabo San Lucas – day temps in the upper 70s and water temps in the upper 60s, and the whales and their babies are migrating up the coast. Alastair and I spent a week at Hacienda del Mar, a timeshare I’ve had since the early 90s. Cabo has changed a lot since then, but fortunately the beaches and water are still beautiful and full of sealife. The highlight of our trip this year was swimming with whale sharks and sea lions off the coast of La Paz.
We’ve been in Cabo many times, so we have our favorite destinations for swimming and snorkeling. Playa Chilleno and Playa Santa Maria are two of our favorites. Chilleno has improved their facilities quite a bit since we were there two years ago, and snorkeling was great!
We had an ocean view room at the resort and we could see whales migrating north throughout the day. Not close enough for great photos, but we still got a thrill watching them breach. Aside from our snorkeling and swimming trips, most of our time was spent relaxing, going to the gym, walking on the beach, and enjoying tacos and tequila!
