My first triathlon today! Have nothing but great things to say about the Shyann Kindness Foundation’s event 7th Annual “Tri” For Acts of Kindness Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon and 5K FUN Run/Walk. Great triathlon for newbies like me, super friendly people, well organized, and lots of free goodies handed out at the finish. Well worth the registration fee, which all goes to the Foundation (love that!).
I wasn’t sure how it would go – wasn’t feeling my best the past couple of weeks. I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis a few days before the event, but took some meds and chilled; fortunately felt much better by race day. Given the results from last year, I thought I might have a chance of reaching the podium. To my surprise, I placed first of five females in my age group!
By coincidence, the group of athletes who racked their bikes next to me in the transition area also placed first in their age groups – we had a great time together. It was wonderful how supportive everyone was – I hope to stay in touch with them, and maybe do another race together in the future!
